Project Wedding: How It All Began

Wedding-Inspiration-Board

I got married this summer and have just gotten back all the wedding photos. What better time to start a series of wedding posts revolved around all things wedding-ful? In the first post of this series, I’m starting with the inspiration board of images I put together that ultimately helped me decide what color scheme to use (purple and gray), the dress and the materials that I based all my DIY projects off of. Unfortunately, I don’t have any records of where the photos from my inspiration board came from because they were pulled two years ago, well before the conception of this blog. If the image belongs to you, please let me know so I can give you credit!

There were two things that were immediately decided as soon as I got engaged:

  • We would get married in France (because that’s where Mr. M and I met).
  • It would be a very intimate outdoor wedding that would only include me, the groom, the officiant, my man of honor, the best man, the photographer, and the videographer.

The images that yielded from my Internet searches led me to envision a wedding that would be vintage, lace, and lavender, so we looked to Provence for our destination wedding.

Just a quick air of grievance: I can’t begin to tell you how many people immediately assumed we were getting married in Paris as soon as we mentioned France. As if the only place that exists in France is Paris! Just like there is more to Canada than Toronto or more to the US than New York or LA, there is definitely more to France than Paris. OK, that’s all.

As our wedding was a destination wedding, we also hosted a reception back home for all of our friends and family. No friends or family were invited to France in order that Mr. M and I could have this moment alone. It was the most beautiful time of my life and I wouldn’t have changed a thing! I thank you for following me in reading the subsequent posts on how I put the wedding of my dreams together.
