During the planning process, my husband was insistent that we have a photo booth. A real one with an enclosure and a privacy curtain like you used to see in malls. One that would print the photos for you on the spot so our guests could have a souvenir to take home. I was able to find one through Weddingful for a really great price, so my husband had his wish. The photo booth props were the first DIY project we completed. We purchased several foam sheets in various colors and long craft dowels, created templates of eyeglasses, hats, and mustaches, cut them onto the foam sheets and glued them to the dowels.

If you do a photo booth at your wedding, or any party event, make sure you have props! They’re so much fun to use and tell a great story in your photos. Our photo booth company provided some props for us, but we added a few of our own - just to really give our guests plenty of options. Aside from the foam hats, glasses, and mustaches on sticks, our prop box also included the following:
* Hair fascinator
* Floppy hat
* Pirate mask
* Empty picture frame
We also had a chalkboard that our guests could write messages on. If you include this in your prop box, make sure to have some chalk and a chalkboard eraser as well. One of our guests cleverly used a piece of chalk as a cigarette in his photo! This chalkboard was used on more than one occasion as it came to France with us. At first, it was a photo prop in our wedding photos, and then it was a menu board for our ceremony dinner. Love getting a lot of mileage out of my DIY projects!

And lastly, an item that I haven’t seen in any other photo booths… the magnifying glass! My Man of Honor introduced this idea to me and I loved it immediately. Look how goofy I look in this photo at the store. Imagine the images from the photo booth!
What items have you used as a photo prop? I’d love to hear them!
