Threading Shapes Activity (Busy Bags For Kids)

Threading shapes is a fun activity I remember from kindergarten! Maybe even earlier… (silent pause as M spaces out to walk down memory lane)

In any case, this busy bag activity is really easy for the adults to make and the kids will have a fun time learning their shapes and playing with yarn.

THREADING SHAPES

Ages: 2+
Skill: Motor skills development and learning shapes

Supply List

• Foam sheets
• These shapes templates
• Hole puncher
• Yarn cut to 10-12″ lengths

Step-by-Step

1. Cut out the foam sheets using the shapes templates I’ve provided in this post. (See link in Supply List.)

2. Punch holes along the perimeter of the shape, about 1″ apart. There are holes indicated on the templates that you can follow.

3. Tie a length of yarn to one of the holes and leave loose.

How To Play

Weave the yarn through the holes (up and down) around the shape until the yarn has traced the entire shape on both sides.

After two days of intense projects, isn’t it nice to make a busy bag activity that’s quick and easy to put together?
