DIY Leather Key Fobs

DIY Leather Key Fobs | Planq Studio

Our household has so many sets of keys. Not only do we keep personal sets, we also need to keep sets of keys for both of our parents’ homes. These fobs were created from necessity so we can keep all these key sets organized. Below is a tutorial of how I made them so you can recreate your own.

Supply List

• Leather material
• Grommets & grommet punch
• Letter & number metal stamps
• Hammer
• Scissors
• Ruler
• Marking pen or pencil

Step-by-Step

Make your own leather key fobs with this simple tutorial! | Planq Studio

Step 1
Cut leather into strips of 1″W x 6″L.
Step 2
Fold the leather strips in half and make a crease. Unfold the strips. Personalize your fobs using metal stamps. If you need a set of metal stamps, these ones are pretty great! (affiliate link) Orient the fob labels vertically onto the leather. Make sure to start your letters from the top of the cut end and not from the crease end.
Step 3
Fold the leather strips and hammer grommets at the cut ends.
Step 4
Cut the corners at the fold in a 45 degree angle, leaving about a 1/2″ fold in the center. Insert metal key rings into your new key fobs!
Step 5
EXTRA CREDIT! Paint your keys with nail polish in different colors to further identify your key sets.
