The Stain Removal Kit

I seem to be on some sort of kick in keeping my clothes in tip-top shape recently. First there was The Fashion Emergency Kit, then there was the major closet clean-out that happened last Saturday (there was no post about that, so you didn’t miss anything), and now I present to you The Stain Removal Kit.

It is a collection of DIY stain removal systems that will get out pesky stains in your clothes. It’s not meant to be a laundering system, but more of a while-we’re-partying-and-someone-spills-red-wine-on-their-brand-new-white-blouse stain removal thing. This actually happened at one of our parties! Thankfully, our party was in abundance of club soda and that combined with elbow grease and patience saved the brand new white blouse!

To avoid this sort of tragedy the next time when we’re not in full-on supply of club soda, I decided to make a stain removal kit for those “happy” accidents. Those who get life get why happy was in quotation marks. *smiles*

Read on for what I’ve included in this kit and for some cool printable labels - for free, of course! I got you!

The Kit Parts

The parts and pieces that make up The Stain Removal Kit are all travel-sized in order to fit into an actual kit. I had an old plastic case sitting around collecting dust that I repurposed for this kit. I use all natural products that one can find around the house to remove my clothing stains. They’re better on your clothes and you save a ton of money, so that’s a good thing, right? Here is what I’ve included and why they’re awesome:

1. Magic Cleaner. This cleaner is 1 part blue Dawn liquid dishwashing detergent and 2 parts hydrogen peroxide. It cleans out just about everything, but it does include hydrogen peroxide, so may not be safe for all fabric types.

2. Baking soda. This is good to have in your kit to take out those annoying oil splatters.

3. Toothbrush. Keep this tool in your stain removal kit for scrubbing at the pesky stains. It works way better than rubbing with your fingers - trust me! And, always soft bristles.

4. Toothpaste. Good option for removing ink and lipstick stains, although there are others that will work too.

5. Q-tips. For spot cleaning.

6. White rag. This is an absolute must! Keep several in your kit if you have the space. Use this as a blotter in between layers of fabric (like a T-shirt) so the stain doesn’t transfer to the other side. Believe me, transfer WILL happen.

7. Hydrogen peroxide. Use this straight up to take out blood stains. Seriously, it’s magic.

8. Club soda. I already mentioned how this saved my friend’s brand new white blouse, right?

9. Tide-to-go pen. OK, so this one is not exactly natural, but I had to have it on hand. This is just a great tool to have around if all else fails.

10. Rubbing alcohol. Gets pen ink out!

11. Hand sanitizer. Also gets ink out!

12. White vinegar. There’s so much this liquid can do. I use it in practically every room of the house.

13. Water. Just plain tap water. You’re gonna be glad you had this in a spray bottle when you need to clean out off the stain removers.

14. Dish soap. This also does a great job at getting out oil splatters. Oil splatters are my nemesis. Note to self: Wear aprons more often.

15. Stain Removal Chart. And lastly, what stain removal kit would be a complete without a chart to tell you how to remove all the stains? I’ll be sharing with you the chart I designed for this kit in a future post, so stick around!

Scroll to the bottom to download your free labels. I designed them to look all vintage laundry-like. Do you like?? Let’s all have matching stain removal kits!
